Meet the Artist

Emelia Washer is an artist who communicates the science world in carefully constructed, whimsical nature illustrations. Being born and raised in Keene, NH, she has always been conscious of the natural beauty environments carry. She is inspired by the emotional and soft tones in Claude Monet’s atmospheric paintings and the meticulousness of traditional approaches to line used by artists such as Elizabeth Blackwell. She uses digital elements to piece together environments in larger projects but mostly works in watercolor, colored pencil, and ink. Emelia continues to push the narrative on climate change through the visual nostalgia of the outdoors, softly reminding us of what we have to lose.
